Abstract

• Elutriation and sieving effectively enriched protein content with optimal separation achieved at specific air velocities for each feed material. • Soya DOC and synthetic feed exhibited higher protein separation efficiency, whereas chickpea flour faced challenges due to lipid adhesion. • FTIR and SEM analysis confirmed compositional and structural differences, influencing protein separation efficiency. • Particle size distribution played a crucial role, with finer particles requiring enhanced pretreatment for improved liberation and separation. • Techno-economic analysis highlighted the importance of optimizing air velocity to balance protein yield and process feasibility.
