• Analyzed the design requirements of the vibration absorber based on the distribution characteristics of robot modal frequencies and modal directional behavior. • An equivalent stiffness modeling method based on nonlinear magnetic forces is proposed. • A dynamic model of the vibration absorber considering nonlinear stiffness is established, and the effects of key parameters on vibration suppression performance are investigated. • A nonlinear stiffness optimization design method under a parameter consistency principle is proposed. • A passive vibration absorber capable of broadband and multi-directional vibration suppression is designed.
