Abstract

• A mechanism-based prior weight adaptive SSAE method is proposed for accurate tool wear condition monitoring. • A tool wear mechanism model using stress and cutting temperature gives prior knowledge and constraints for data-driven model. • A dynamic feature dimension optimisation strategy is proposed to balance compression and representation. • An adaptive prior weight mechanism and composite loss function are designed to improve monitoring accuracy and robustness.
