• Ag@rGOAMs with highly hierarchical 3D structure were successfully synthesized. • Ag@rGOAMs can effectively avoid the filler aggregation when mixed with GL matrix. • The Ag@rGOAMs/GL showed better properties compared with other composites. • The Ag@rGOAMs/GL can have potential to be used in fruit packaging applications.
