Abstract

• Bayesian network meta-analysis compared distinct game-based learning modalities across learning domains. • Effects were domain-specific: Kahoot-based quizzes showed the largest gains for knowledge. • App-based learning showed the largest gains for practice; metaverse learning for attitudes. • Rankings for attitudes and practice were uncertain due to sparse networks and imprecision. • Future RCTs should prioritise head-to-head comparisons and longer-term retention and transfer outcomes.
