• Investigate a novel resource allocation scenario of service function chain in multi-provider edge cloud. • Formulate a total service delay minimization problem for compound service function chain deployment under multiple constraints. • Address the delay minimization problem using a reinforcement learning-based scheme integrated with heuristic methods. • Provide a theoretical analysis of the proposed algorithms. • Experiments on real-world datasets show lower total delay and shorter runtime for the proposed algorithms.
