• A wine grape centrifugal crusher combined flow guide and impact technique was developed. • Performances of a guide-impact type centrifugal crusher (GICC) were evaluated. • GICC reduced the disorderly grape movement and inferior repetitiveness during processing. • GICC improved the crushing rate and stability compared to the conventional crusher. • GICC may become a potential technology for effectively crushing fruits which are used for making wine.
