To explore the effectiveness of the innovative “7E Learning Cycle Model - Ideological and Political Education in Curriculum” approach in otorhinolaryngology nursing student teaching. From April 2024 to August 2025, nursing students interning in our department were selected as the research subjects. This quasi-experimental study enrolled a total of 86 participants with 43 cases in the experimental group receiving the “7E + Ideological and Political Education” teaching method, and 43 cases in the control group receiving traditional teaching methods. Teaching effectiveness was comprehensively evaluated through theoretical assessments, skill assessments, ideological and political literacy scores, and questionnaires. The experimental group performed significantly better than the control group in terms of professional knowledge, operational skills, ideological and political literacy, and even course satisfaction (P < 0.05). Students’ reflective feedback from the experimental group suggested that case discussions and situational simulations effectively facilitated the integration of ideological and political elements such as “humanistic care” and “medical ethics,” encouraging active reflection on the meaning of the nursing profession. The “7E Learning Cycle - Ideological and Political Education in Curriculum” model contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of clinical internship teaching in otorhinolaryngology, improves nursing students’ self-directed learning ability, empathy, and ideological-political literacy, and enhances their communication skills and attitudes.
