: The rise of information technology has expanded job opportunities, leading many individuals to pursue multiple professions or side-hustles alongside their full-time work. Grounded in role expansion theory, our research examined the relationship between full-time work task conflicts and side-hustle creativity. We used both an experimental study (N = 188) and a questionnaire survey (N = 271) to test all hypotheses. The results show that full-time work task conflicts stimulate side-hustle engagement, subsequently fostering side-hustle creativity. In addition, individuals' performance-avoidance goal orientation weakens the positive effect of full-time work task conflict on side-hustle engagement. Our findings enrich the research related to multiple professions, offering practical insights to the career development of individuals managing both full-time work and side-hustle pursuits.
