• Five profiles of math gender stereotypes and self-perceptions emerged in two studies. • Profiles showed beliefs that math is for “all,” “me,” “some,” “others,” or “few.” • Profiles were linked to math GPA, with for “all” and “me” showing highest grades. • Self-perceptions were more linked to interest stereotypes than ability stereotypes. • Girls were more prevalent in low motivation profiles.
