Rolf Huisgenwould have celebrated his 100th birthday this year. Three of his academic progeny look back on Huisgen as a person, teacher, and scientist. They underline his leading role in rebuilding the chemistry department in Munich after the Second World War and the enduring importance of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition (Huisgen reaction).
