This paper presents a multifunctional data acquisition system optimized for low speed processes and high accuracy data recording. The benefits of this approach are related to its versatility and performance versus its low price. Some typical applications of the system are described in detail. A main process control as for a thermal chamber is correlated with electronic circuits measurements like DC-DC converters efficiency recordings for various input and output conditions, power battery characterization or operational amplifier offset drift measurements. The system also permits the acquisition from up to three external devices connected by serial interfaces. The individual RS232 ports are multiplexed both hardware and software. Front-end modules designed for specific applications are also detailed.
